İSTANBUL BAŞAKŞEHİR FUTBOL KULÜBÜ

Istanbul Başakşehir Football Club was founded on June 4, 2014. Our club is a joint-stock company with seven partners, and its founding president is Göksel Gümüşdağ.

In its first year in the Super League, our football team finished the 2014–2015 season in 4th place, earning the right to play in the Europa League qualifiers. At the start of the 2015–2016 season, our team was eliminated by AZ Alkmaar in the qualifiers and missed out on European competition, but again finished the league in 4th place at the end of the season. In the 2016–2017 season, our team eliminated Rijeka in the Europa League qualifiers but lost to Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, missing the chance to reach the group stage.

In just its third year since its founding, Istanbul Başakşehir Football Club finished the season in 2nd place. In the following season, the team eliminated Club Brugge in the Champions League qualifiers but was knocked out by Spanish giant Sevilla in the play-off round, continuing its journey in the Europa League group stage. Competing in Group C, our team finished 3rd with 8 points in 6 matches. After finishing the 2017–2018 Super League season in 3rd place, our team was eliminated by English side Burnley in the Europa League qualifiers and ended the 2018–2019 season once again in 2nd place in the league standings.

Before the 2019–2020 season, our club set out with the slogan “New vision, same goal.” After being eliminated by Olympiacos in the Champions League play-off round, the team continued in the Europa League. In Group J, alongside Italian giant AS Roma, Germany’s historic Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Austrian side Wolfsberger, our team finished the group as leaders. In the Round of 32, we eliminated Portuguese side Sporting CP, but were knocked out by Copenhagen in the Round of 16.

Istanbul Başakşehir Football Club became the 6th champion in Super League history during its 6th season in the league. Continuing with the slogan “Turkey’s new champion,” our club competed in the 2020–2021 UEFA Champions League group stage against European giants Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and RB Leipzig.
